Junior High Track:
  8th Grade Year:
    1) 800m – State Champ (Broke the state record with a time of 2:22.07 previous record held
        by Hall from O’Fallon with a time of 2:23.70 in 2007)
    2) 400m – State Champ with a time of 1:01.11
    3) 4x400m Relay – State Champions – anchored the relay (4:26.67)
    4) 4x100m Relay – 3rd place (54.29)
    5) Aces got 3rd as a team

Elk's National Hoopshoot:
  8th Grade Year:
    Tyra Buss (Age 13), daughter of Tim & Kelly Buss of Mt. Carmel, IL, became a 4 Time State Champion in the Illinois State Elks “Hoop Shoot” contest held at Decatur Eisenhower High School in Decatur, IL on Saturday February 13th. Tyra has qualified for the Illinois Elks State Hoop shoot Contest for six consecutive years and this is Tyra’s fourth State Championship. Tyra and Ashley Westjohn from Effingham made 22 out of 25. They then went to a shoot-off where Tyra made 10-10, while Ashley made 9-10 earning Tyra the Championship. Tyra also was awarded the prestigious Jim Watson Award. This is a trophy that honors Mr. Watson and his contributions to the Elk’s Hoop Shoot. It is awarded to the Top Female Shooter. 
   Tyra competed as the Illinois Champion March 13, 2010 in the Regional Elk's Hoop Shoot Championship in Iowa City, Iowa. She shot a perfect 25 for 25 to win the girl's 12/13 age division and now, for her first time, gets to shoot in the National Elk's Hoop Shoot at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 22-25. Also, because of her perfect score, she was awarded the Dick Froeschle Award as the best shooter, both boys and girls, from the contestants from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
   Tyra participated in the National Hoop Shoot in Springfield Massachusetts April 22-25, 2010.
